15 Agonizing Automotive Atrocities

VEB Sachsenring Trabant 1957-1991

When it debuted in East Germany in 1957, the Trabant was a decent car that could compete with subcompacts from the West. When the barely-improved Trabant ceased production some 34 years later, Easterners abandoned them on roadsides after moving West — if they got that far (video). Despite a small footprint and good gas mileage, the Trabant was an environmental disaster with a smoky two-stroke engine and a Duroplast body that could not be recycled or disposed without creating toxic fumes.

Photo: realname/Flickr. What has to be the world’s biggest masochist is rally racing what has to be the world’s nicest Trabant RS. We’re surprised the navigator isn’t pushing the car.

Velvet Underground vs. Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

David Pescovitz at 8:48 PM April 19, 2010

My pal Tara over at Dangerous Minds found this mashup of Velvet Underground's "Venus in Furs" and Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell doing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." As someone who considers VU one of the greatest bands of all time, and also has a lifelong love of old soul, I was expecting the worst but hoped for the strange. On that, I think it delivers.

This is a digital work but totally handmade. I painted each circle individually on a black surface. Let's call this "circlism". This is really a time consuming technique...

I have always loved Bob Marley. Jah bless!

Free unlimited SVN and GIT, and much more

Free unlimited SVN and GIT, and much more

Posted by Andy Singleton on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 @ 06:00 AM

This is a huge day for Assembla repository users. We are now offering free, privately permissioned, encryption enabled, unlimited user, full gigabyte, commercial quality subversion and git repositories, and that is just the beginning.

Our free private repository spaces have only the Source/svn or Source/git tool. If you want more tools, like tickets, collaboration, ftp, etc you'll have to add your space to a paid subscription plan.

To grab your free private repository select the free svn or git entries from the catalog, or by forking an existing repository. You can get the free repository without a subscription, or add an unlimited number to your existing subscription.

Why did we do it?

  1. Because we love you and we want you to give you free unlimited commercial-quality repositories, and it's the right thing to do.  Now there is no excuse for not using a professional quality repository to handle any software work.

Mert a GitHub-on csak a nem privát az ingyenes.

Fix Printer Paper Jam With A Simple Batch File

There are two big annoyances with Printers, one is when Windows cannot kill the print job and second is when the paper is stuck. In both situations hitting the Cancel button is useless, since Windows can in fact never kill the print job while the temp file is created and the job is still in use.

To fix this issue, you need to first open the task manager, stop spoolsv.exe service, and then delete everything inside the following directory,

C:\windows\system32\spool\printers\

Now open Run dialog box, enter spoolsv.exe and hit Enter. Doing this will run the spoolsv.exe service again.

If you face this problem frequently, why not create a simple batch file which can perform all these actions for you? To do so, copy the following text in the notepad and save it as “AddictiveTipsFixPrinter.bat”:

@echo off
echo Stopping print spooler.
echo.
net stop spooler
echo Erasing Temporary Junk Printer Documents
echo.
del /Q /F /S “%systemroot%\System32\Spool\Printers\*.*
echo Starting print spooler.
echo.
net start spooler

To make it easier, we have provided the batch file below. All you need to do is to double-click it and try printing again.

If you have Lexmark printer, you need to add the following code after the “net stop spooler” command:

sc config spooler depend= RPCSS

This is important because Lemark printer can seriously mess up the services and makes it impossible to start the print spooler. Thanks goes to Print Flush for the code.
